Privacy at a glance
Your notes and settings stay on your device. NoteMoon does not send them to our servers. Sharing, backups, and exports only happen when you choose.
What NoteMoon does
NoteMoon lets you write notes, attach images from your gallery, organize with categories and starred items, search your notes, and recover deleted items from Trash. Everything runs on your phone. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your note text for you.
Stored only on this device
Notes, Trash, PIN/app-lock settings, security-recovery data you choose, theme (dark), and language preference are saved locally (on-device storage). They are not synced to our cloud because we do not provide a NoteMoon account or backend for your content.
App lock & biometrics
Optional PIN lock uses a secure hash stored on the device—not your raw PIN. Fingerprint or face unlock uses your phone’s built-in system (e.g. Android BiometricPrompt). We never see or store your actual biometric data.
When something leaves your phone
Only with your action:
- Share sends text or files to the app you pick.
- Copy puts note text on the clipboard.
- Backup creates a JSON file (often under Downloads/NoteMoon on Android).
- Export PDF uses device storage where available.
Opening a link in a note or visiting the Play Store from Settings opens your browser or Play—the app does not send your notes there.
Permissions (Android)
- Photos/media: so you can choose gallery images for notes. NoteMoon uses a system picker and is not designed to request broad access to all photos/videos on your device.
- Internet is listed in the app manifest; NoteMoon is not designed to upload your notes to us. Network activity may occur when you use share, open URLs, or the system loads something outside our code.
Analytics & advertising
This app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. You should not see in-app ads in this version. If that ever changes, we will update this screen and the store listing before turning ads on.
Keeping your notes safe
Use a screen lock on your phone. If you uninstall NoteMoon or clear app data, local notes may be lost unless you exported a backup. We cannot restore notes from a server—we don’t have them.
Trash, backup & restore
Deleted notes can sit in Trash for about 30 days before automatic removal, or you can restore or delete them sooner.
In Settings you can create a local backup file and restore from a backup you select. Those files stay under your control.
Children’s privacy
NoteMoon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a NoteMoon online service.
